Welcome message from Miss Hayes, Reception Teacher:

Please see below for HOME LEARNING

Welcome to R Believe! It has been lovely getting to know all of the children during their first couple of weeks at school. They have all settled in so well and I am looking forward to being their class teacher throughout their first year at school. If you have anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to speak to me at the gate or by phoning the school office.

Phonics and Reading

Please continue to read daily with your child.  You can access books that are graded to your child's level via the Bug Club web site.  I have provided you with a password for free access to this site that I will monitor twice weekly in the same way that I would change books in school.  I can see which books have been read and allocate new ones when necessary.  You can also use Tapestry to send me messages about how well your child is doing with their reading.  The Bug Club website is:

Writing

Your child should be writing daily.  I have sent home a home learning book in which I would like them to draw a picture of what they have been doing along with a sentence to explain what is in the picture.  Your home learning pack also includes letter formation cards to help you to support your child with their hand writing and spelling.  They should be writing the sounds they can hear in each word and be learning how to put finger spaces between each word.  You can take photos of their writing and upload them to Tapestry.  Your pack also contains other ideas to get them writing.

Maths

You have access to DB primary  (our online learning platform).  The link to this can be found in the bottom right hand corner of our school website.  You have log in details for this inside your child's home learning book. (the lilac one that they are going to write in daily).

I have put some fun maths games on here that will teach them some of the concepts that we have been learning in school

Useful websites for Home Learning

R Believe Class Organisation

PE Day for R Believe will be on a Tuesday morning.

Rhyme of the Week - Each week we will send home a rhyme for you to learn and sing with your child. A copy of this will appear on the Reception page of the website.

Reading -  Your child needs to read with you at least 3 times a week at home. This should be recorded in their reading record book. We will check and change children’s books on a Tuesday and Friday. On Tuesdays and Thursday you are welcome to come into the classroom and choose a bedtime story with your child for you to share at home.

Lunch - 11:30am until 12:15pm

Please ensure all packed lunch bags and containers are fully labelled on the outside. ABSOLUTELY NO NUT PRODUCTS PLEASE (we have a child in our school with a severe nut allergy).

Snack - The snack table is open to children all day. It has healthy breakfast cereals, milk, breadsticks and crackers. The cost of this is 50p per week, payable to the class teacher. Please do not hand in loose chnage, it must be in an envelope with your child's name on.

Uniform - Please ensure that all items of your child's uniform is labelled with their name and class.
