Use these links to take you to some websites, so your child can enjoy some phonic games.

Your child should complete writing, spelling and grammar activities daily.  Please make use of our online learning platform, DB primary (link can be found in the bottom right hand corner) for allocated 'English' activities. In Year 1, we have PE lessons every Wednesday and Friday (1B) Thursday and Friday (1R). Please make sure your child has a white t-shirt, black shorts or leggings and black pumps or trainers. Please ensure any earrings are removed in preparation for our lesson. If they cannot be removed, please show your child how to cover them using plasters.

As we are promoting healthy lifestyles, the children are provided with a piece of fruit each day. They can eat these at play times.

Water Bottles

Please ensure your child brings a water bottle into school each day. Your child's name must be clearly visible on the bottle.

In Year 1, we ask children to read at least three times a week with an adult at home. Once your child has read, please sign their reading record book. Every time your child reads they will receive a raffle ticket for our weekly reading raffle! If their raffle ticket is lucky enough to be picked, they will receive a prize on a Friday. You have to be in it to win it!

During the current climate, your child will recieve two books on a Thursday and these need to be returned to school by the following Tuesday, so we have time to quarantine the books.

Letters and Sounds

Reading is a vital part of your child's education and in Year 1 we continue the journey from EYFS and teach your child a vast array of phonemes (sounds) and graphemes (the written form of the sound). We teach letters and sounds daily and throughout all lessons we refer to the application of phonics in word reading.

If you have access to a computer or tablet, these links will be helpful in encouraging your child to become more confident in recognising phonemes and graphemes through playing games.

Talk for Writing/ English

Our core text is called ‘Nibbles, The Book Eating Monster'.  Nibblles is a little monster who loves books!.He has escaped and caused mayhem in some popular story books. Can we find him before he goes into any other story books?

Here are some English actvities that you can choose to do online if you have access to a computer.

In our Maths work we will be exploring the place value of numbers up to twenty. We will be comparing and ordering numbers and objects. We will be representing numbers in a variety of different ways, including placing numbers on the number line. This will lead on to addition and subtraction and interpreting the symbols associated with these calculations. We will be using alot  of resources to help us with our number work. Such as part part whole models, bar models and ten frames. ( see above)

You can see these on our daily videos which can be accessed through dB Primary.

We are also loooking at our x2, x5 and x10 multiplication facts.

Here are some websites to play some games that will help to exercise our mathematical brains:
