Sports Premium
he Government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for the academic year 2013/2014, 2014/2015 2015/2016 to provide new, substantial primary school targeted sport funding. This is part of the pledge to honour the Olympic legacy after the 2012 London Olympics and in acknowledgement of the important role PE and School Sport play in enhancing the physical, social and emotional well-being of our young people. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and will see the money going directly to Primary School Headteachers to spend on improving the quality of PE and School Sport for their children.
The sport funding can only be spent on Sport and PE provision in schools.
Purpose of the funding
Schools will have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and School Sport, but will have the freedom to choose how to do this based on the needs of their pupils.
Each school receives £8000 plus £5 per pupil for the next two years. At Beamont CP School we intend to use a substantial proportion of our funding to improve the expertise of staff in the delivery of high quality PE lessons across the school. We feel that this is the most effective and efficient way for the funding to have a long lasting and positive effect on the future learning and physical development of children within our school.
