Our Remote Education Provision Parents Information document can be seen below.  This will be kept under regular review.

Reception children make use of Tapestry and Zoom.

Years 1 to 6 make use of DB Primary class pages and Microsoft Teams for live lessons.

Our remote education curriculum offer aligns our classroom teaching and learning with our online teaching and learning as we aim to maximise opportunities for pupil learning and support parents and carers at home.


We have recieved many positive comments about our remote education offer - thank you.

We have also recieved many constructive comments and suggestions to improve, which we have acted on as shown in the table below:

You said... We did....
You want timetables so that you know what time the children start sessions, have breaks, have lunch, etc. We have produced these and sent them out to you and put them on your child's DB Primary class page.
For our younger children, you have asked us to provide reminders of independent tasks at the end of live inputs as children sometimes forget. Reception teachers are clarifying these on Tapestry after each Zoom session.

Remote education provision: information for parents

This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education at Beamont Primary School.

The remote curriculum: what is taught to pupils at home

A pupil’s first day or two of being educated remotely might look different from our standard approach, while we take all necessary actions to prepare for a longer period of remote teaching. If you require support with technology or resources please contact the school.

What should my child expect from immediate remote education in the first day or two of pupils being sent home?

Your child should be able to instantly log onto DB primary where they will be able to contact a member of the year group team to obtain further information. This may be a link to a Teams Live Lesson or instructions on what to do next. A member of the year group teaching team will be in contact during the first day. For children in Early Years this contact will be made using Tapestry.

Following the first few days of remote education, will my child be taught broadly the same curriculum as they would if they were in school?

  • We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school.
  • For Year groups 1-6 there will be a ‘live’ lesson for each session which will run simultaneously and synchronize with those in school, it might include a PowerPoint and follow-on activities.
  • For our EYs children they will have allocated Zoom sessions throughout the day; these will focus upon English, maths and handwriting and will be exactly the same as the curriculum in school. There will also be a daily prerecorded phonics session available on Tapestry.

Remote teaching and study time each day

How long can I expect work set by the school to take my child each day?

As we are synchronizing our remote teaching we expect that remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) will broadly take the same number of hours as a school day. This will be outlined within our weekly timetables.

Accessing remote education

How will my child access any online remote education you are providing?

Children will be ‘invited’ to each of the Teams sessions. If you child does not attend an additional reminder ‘ping’ and ‘call’ will be sent. It is expected that we ‘see’ your child everyday day. However, we do appreciate that there may be more than one child using a device, you may have work commitments and therefore on you may be accessing the PowerPoints / live lesson at a later point. If this is this case, please ensure that you submit work via DB primary or Teams. Your child must be seen each week by a member of the year group teaching team, it will also benefit their wellbeing for them to engage with their peers.

If my child does not have digital or online access at home, how will you support them to access remote education?

We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. We take the following approaches to support those pupils to access remote education:

We ask if that if you have no available devices at home that you please contact the school office and a device will be made available for you. You will need to sign a contract which highlights your responsibility for the device, and it must be returned immediately upon return to school.

A dongle can be provided to support with internet access. Please contact the office on the above number should one be required.

There will also be the opportunity twice a week to collect any supporting resources for example paper, pens, counters your child may need that you do not have access to – you will be informed via DB primary or Teams as to when these will be.

How will my child be taught remotely?

We use a combination of the following approaches to teach pupils remotely:

The following approaches will be used to teach pupils remotely.

  • The majority of teaching will be live lessons which will be synchronised with school using Teams. These will be recorded and will be saved alongside any PowerPoints and resources on the Beamont DB primary portal and Teams.
  • External teachers will be used for music lessons and these will be streamed via Teams.
  • In the case of any occasion when the internet is down in school, ‘back up’ plans can be accessed, links will be available to recorded teaching.
  • On rare occasions, when appropriate, recorded teaching will be used (e.g. Oak National Academy lessons, video/audio recordings made by teachers, White Rose Maths )
  • Commercially available websites supporting the teaching of specific subjects or areas, including video clips or sequences will be used if they enhance learning
  • For EYs – pre-recorded sessions will be available on Tapestry alongside daily live zoom lessons

Engagement and feedback

What are your expectations for my child’s engagement and the support that we as parents and carers should provide at home?

  • Please follow the schools ‘code of conduct’ for the expectations for pupils’ engagement with remote education.
  • We expect parents/ carers to support your child’s education, for example, setting routines, ensuring they have logged on, ensuring there are in a quiet calm environment. Reminders will be sent. We do not expect parents/ carers to remain with the child but in close proximity. Please follow the schools ‘code of conduct’ for the expectations for parents and carers. 
  • Parents and carers of children in EYs we appreciate that it is more unlikely that children will be able to independently use the technology. We ask that parents and carers support when they can and that they regularly upload videos and photographs onto Tapestry.
  • If you are encountering any difficulties, we would expect the parent to contact the school office or the year group teaching team at the soonest opportunity.

How will you check whether my child is engaging with their work and how will I be informed if there are concerns?

  • We will take both in-school and home-learning registers at the beginning of the morning and afternoon sessions and will monitor both.
  • Staff will continue to ‘invite’ non attendees to join the lesson and will call if it is deemed necessary.
  • We expect to ‘see’ your child every day and if this is not possible at the very least once per week. If your child has not been ‘seen’ then the safeguarding team will be in touch.
  • If work is not completed ‘live’ then we expect for it to be uploaded via DB primary or Teams by the end of the week.
  • If your child has not logged on, the following escalation procedure will be adhered to

How will you assess my child’s work and progress?

  • Feedback will be provided through instant comments either orally or on the ‘note’ section of Teams, since lesson are recorded, they will be accessible at a later date.
  • DB primary and Teams will also be utilised as a form of communication and feedback/ responses to any work that has been submitted in this way. 
  • For EYs feedback and comments will be made on Tapestry.
  • Our remote learning feedback policy will also be available on our website.

Additional support for pupils with particular needs

How will you work with me to help my child who needs additional support from adults at home to access remote education?

We recognise that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils in the following ways:

  • 1:1 session will be provided where needed with known staff
  • Risk assessments for all children with an EHCP will be in place.
  • Small group intervention sessions will be provided as and when appropriate
  • SALT programs have been created alongside resources and will either be delivered in school (if the child is vulnerable, from a KW family of has an EHCP) or have been issued the parents/ carers to support their child at home
  • TEAM support and mindfulness interventions will be provided for children who are on the SEN register with SEMCH needs where needed
  • For those children with an EHC plan additional support and intervention will be provided where needed based on their EHC targets
  • Adaptations will be made to online learning where needed to ensure that all children with additional needs can access learning remotely e.g. font sizes, pace of learning
  • Practical resources have been provided to support children with additional needs to access their learning

Remote education for self-isolating pupils

Where individual pupils need to self-isolate but the majority of their peer group remains in school, how remote education is provided will likely differ from the approach for whole groups. This is due to the challenges of teaching pupils both at home and in school. However, children will be ‘invited’ into the session and will be able to follow along with their peers.

If my child is not in school because they are self-isolating, how will their remote education differ from the approaches described above?

Once the majority of children have returned to school, if individuals are self-isolating most approaches above will remain the same. With the child being ‘invited’ into live the session by the class teacher. The difference being, there will be no other children doing this and feedback from the class teacher may not be instant as they are focussing upon teaching the remainder of the class. DB primary and Teams will continue be used as a tool of communication and any purposeful, challenges, questions or support will be provided using this avenue as appropriate to ensure individual pupils self-isolating are taught a planned and well-sequenced curriculum with meaningful and ambitious work each day.

Remote Learning - Code of Conduct for Children

This code of conduct outlines what we expect of pupils and parents/ carers during remote learning. Much of this echoes our expectations of pupils in lessons when in school all of it is designed to help pupils gain the most benefit from online learning.

· I will log in to register with my class make sure that my teacher has seen me.

· If taking part in a live sessions I will make sure that...

- my environment is quiet and free from distractions

- the background (and foreground) is appropriate and as neutral as possible (please be mindful of what is visible behind you/in front of you)

- I am appropriately dressed

- I remain attentive

- I communicate in a courteous way at all times to both teachers and fellow pupils

· I will have pens, pencils, paper and any other resources available – including plenty of charge on my device.

· I will let my teacher know if I do not have any of the resources I require.

· I will only use TEAMS or other platforms as directed by the teacher and will only upload material that is related to my learning.

· I understand that my parent/carer is responsible for my TEAMS email and login details.

· I will not use my TEAMS login details to communicate with anyone other than my class teacher and ONLY when directed to do so by my teacher during live sessions.

· I will not use my TEAMS email to create groups, initiate calls or initiate meetings and will end TEAMS sessions when the teacher tells me to do so.

· During any live sessions, I will make sure an adult is close by.

· I will not take photos of my screen or record online interactions in any way.

· I will make sure that my communication in the online learning environment is always supportive of my learning and the learning and wellbeing of others.

Remote Learning - Code of Conduct for Parents and Carers

This code of conduct outlines what we ask of parent/ carers during remote learning. 

As parents/ carers we will…  

  • Ensure my child/ren can log in to all portals and will take responsibility for all their log in details  

  • Remain close to my child whilst they are working (it is not expected that you will complete the work with them, they should be guided by their online teacher)  

  • Ensure all the necessary resources including pens and paper are readily available   

  • Regularly check my own email, DB primary and Teams to ensure I/we have the most relevant up to date information.  

  • When sessions are occurring, I/we will make sure that my child /ren... 
    - have an environment that is quiet and free from distractions 
    - have background (and foreground) that is appropriate and as neutral as possible (please be mindful of what is visible behind you/in front of you) 
    - my child and family members are appropriately dressed  

  • I / we will contact school in a friendly manner if I/we have any issues or require any support
