Tales of Oscar and Ben delight Beamont pupils

THE mischevious adventures of Oscar and Ben the cats were brought to life for Beamont Primary pupils.

Author Sean Perkins, who has written and illustrated a series of tales about the feline friends, hosted a reading session at our school.

“The children enjoyed meeting him and finding out about how he became an author and the inspiration behind some of his wonderful books,” said Natalie Badley, Acting Deputy Headteacher.

“Sean had the children mesmerised and fully engaged by bringing his story to life with puppets. Both children and staff alike found the visit very entertaining and Sean had children giggling and smiling throughout.

“He brought his guitar along with him and had the children singing along with him to end the session.”

The children certainly enjoyed the visit. Year 2 pupil Theo said: “I liked his song and his book – it was just great”, while Year 4 pupil Esemae enthused: “He actually had the characters with him. You had to poke them to wake them up and the cat was really grumpy.”
